Royal family sends love to special dog named by Queen Elizabeth

The royal family on Saturday extended warm birthday wishes to Freddy, a Trainee Medical Alert Assistance Dog named by the late Queen Elizabeth

The birthday message was shared in the comments section of an Instagram post shared by the charity.

The caption accompanying the dog’s photo shared by the charity read: “Happy Birthday to Freddy!

“Trainee Medical Alert Assistance Dog, Freddy, celebrated his 1st birthday this week and was quite rightly spoiled with gifts from his puppy socialiser. They included a tuggy toy and some treats but by far his favourite was his cuddly avocado!”

The dogs is trained to detect and alert individuals to life-threatening medical conditions, such as seizures or low blood sugar.

The charity wrote, “Freddy has had an exciting first year and has come along in leaps and bounds (often literally) with his training. He’s a pro at heelwork, recall and settling in public and his adventures have taken him to places like Crufts and the beach so he is already experiencing all kinds of environments.”

It said, “Freddy was named by Medical Detection Dogs Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, and will one day give his client an incredible gift too – safety, confidence and independence.”

Commenting on the charity’s picture of the dog, the royal family wrote, “We hope Freddy had a waggy day – and we can’t wait to see where he goes next this year!”
