A woman is in a coma and her partner is injured just after they were allegedly mowed down by a drunk driver in Gympie.

Carla and Brett Benson experienced been going for walks alongside Sorensen Rd about 10pm on Monday when they bought into an “altercation” with a male, in accordance to police.

The male is accused of getting into a automobile and intentionally driving into the few.

He then allegedly still left the scene without the need of serving to them.

Carla Benson, 32, was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with major accidents.

Her family members says she has remained in a coma considering that the incident, though her husband Brett experienced a leg damage.

The household fears the canine has died from its accidents.

The alleged driver, a 34-calendar year-outdated gentleman, handed himself into law enforcement about midnight on Monday.

He allegedly was observed with a blood-alcoholic beverages level of .072 – over the .05 limit – in a breath examination.

He has been billed with two counts of tried murder and drink-driving.

The person was also accused of wilful injury and failing to continue to be at the scene of an incident.
