Police have arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for a collision, and failing to report a collision after locating a vehicle suspected to have been involved in a fatal crash in Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire, last night (December 23).
Police have confirmed that the man who died was 38-year-old local man Aaron Jones. The collision took place close to the Caer Salem Baptist Chapel sometime between 6.45pm and 7.45pm, while Mr Jones was walking his dog.

A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police read: “Dyfed-Powys Police can now confirm the vehicle believed to be involved in the fatal road traffic collision in Llanpumsaint last night (December 23) has been located. One man, aged 27, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop for a collision, and failing to report a collision.
“The family of the man who died in the collision continue to be supported by specially trained officers. They have asked for privacy at this difficult time.”
The community was said to be ‘in mourning’ following the tragedy, with local residents saying Mr Jones was “exceptionally well respected in the village”, and was “involved heavily with the local park” and other associations. You can read more about what people in the village had to say here.
Police are still appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and might have relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
