Online shopping can be a minefield – and despite thorough research, the items you receive may not always match their online descriptions. Whether it’s a pair of shoes, a kitchen item or a new clothing item, things aren’t always what they seem when they’re advertised online.

This was a lesson learned by a dog owner who purchased a knitwear for her Belgian Malinois, only to find that the sizing was far from accurate, leaving her pet looking rather unimpressed. In a post shared on Threads on 4 January, Paige explained that she had ordered an extra-large jumper for her dog.

She believed it would fit perfectly as “the model dog (90lbs) was wearing it” However, her hopes were dashed when the garment arrived and proved to be far too small for her Belgian Malinois.

Despite fitting the Labrador in the advertisement perfectly, the jumper was so snug it looked like a crop top. While the RSPCA have revealed that it could be a good idea to get your pup a coat or a jumper for the chilly winter walks, this one would do little to ward off the winter chill!

Even though the ill-fitting top might provide an opportunity for extra belly rubs, it’s not the most practical option. However, the mishap did provide some amusement for social media users.

The photo has garnered more than 4,600 likes since being posted on Threads, with several dog owners taking to the comments section to share their amusement at the jumper fail.

One person wrote: “She’s an icon”. Meanwhile, a second person said: “It’s a crop top. So fashionable.” And a third user joked: “Must be women’s sizing!”.

A fourth sarcastically wrote: “They’re trying to give our pups complexes with clothing sizes now?! UNACCEPTABLE!!” . And Paige joked back: “I made sure she couldn’t see the mirror.”

Some even shared their own online shopping mishaps, along with similar photos of their own dogs in clothing items that were either far too big or too small.

In response, Paige shared another photo of her fur baby. She was still wearing the red jumper despite being too small. Paige added: “She appreciates the support everybody lol.”

Before ordering any items for yourself (or your pet) online, we recommend checking the store’s measurements and description first.

You should also review customer feedback and do some additional research if possible – or you could end up with an ill-fitting item of your own!
