The Cebu City Veterinary Office will investigate deaths of no fewer than 20 dogs or cats on a boat bound for the Visayas.

According to a report on 24 Oras Weekend on Sunday, video showed the animals in their cages or carriers on the boat. According to Cebu City veterinarian Dr. Alice Utlang, the animals may have possibly died of heat stroke during the journey.

They will ask the shipping company for the details of the voyage and if it had declared the cargo of animals. According to the report, transporting animals requires proper documentation and care; and there must be air-conditioning. — BM, GMA Integrated News
