People will have the chance to fly a drone, experience virtual reality, and meet a robotic dog at next month’s Oxford Brookes Science Bazaar.

The free annual event, aimed at children aged five to 16, attracts hundreds of families from across Oxfordshire and beyond.

This year, it will feature 70 interactive activities, including the chance to tackle LEGO challenges, create a comic book with artist Neill Cameron, and explore psychology, environmental science, and human biology through interactive activities such as brain teasers and making slime.

Dr Ellie Beaman, public and community engagement coordinator at Oxford Brookes University, and organiser of the Science Bazaar, said: “We aim to inspire children’s curiosity across a range of disciplines, including technology, engineering, art, maths, and social sciences.

“This year, children will get the chance to crochet a neuron and explore the theme of female leaders through characters created by Neill Cameron in his comic book session.

“There will also be an opportunity to learn about the perils caterpillars face as they search for a safe space to transform into a chrysalis before emerging as butterflies.”
